David Hamlin is a partner in Weisman Hamlin Public Relations, which has represented dozens of nonprofit and advocacy organizations and associations throughout its 24 year history. He is also a co-creator and co-presenter of Mastering The Media ™ workshops, which have trained hundreds of nonprofit staff and volunteers in the art of effective news media management. He is the author of Mastering The Media ~ Purpose, Passion & Publicity for Nonprofit & Advocacy Organizations (Lulu Press, 2008 available at Lulu.com).
Prior to founding WHPR, Mr. Hamlin served as Executive Director for ACLU in two states; in N.H., he was the only staff member, in Illinois he managed a staff of more than 20. He has extensive experience in every aspect of nonprofit management and his work in media and crisis communications has generated international attention.
David is a trained a community organizer who graduated in the inaugural urban class of VISTA. He has founded community organizations (one now more than 3 decades old, another more than 10 years old), served on the inaugural Board of a Los Angeles Neighborhood Council and he has held seats on Boards of several nonprofit, community and grassroots organizations.
David Hamlin believes that nonprofits can provide the solution to any problem and that those who work in nonprofits are proof positive that the First Amendment is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.
